paint a hole blacker

Went to coffee news. I ate fruit and yogurt in an empty cafe. Re-read the first few pages of Paul Auster's Leviathan. Few hours later I ate piece of pizza from Luce. Read the Vitamn interview with St. Vincent. She muted some of her favorite films and re-scored them. Smart. On MPR on the way home, Gary Eichten was interviewing Chris Farrell. The American dream is changing. Financial stability, and suckcess is changing. No more pensions, savings, no more houses. More death. Scientists have predicted a wave of exploding heads. It might already be happening, but the media isn't covering it because of its liberal bias. Ever seen a watermelon dropped from a balcony? It'll be something like that. But with heads. Many exploding heads to start exploding real soon. Gonna hook my vcr up next to my computer in my studio here. Gonna start working differently. Hook up my old samplers and foot pedals. Sequencers. Drum Machines. Keyboards. Bad woody allen films. Three stooges. Captain Ron up next.

Do I have American flu?

Post from my iPhone.
Listening to John Cage -Cheap Imitation for Piano Solo.
Roomates tv is clattering fox news talking heads spouting on about American Flu.

Notes on Prairies which I'm studying:

Midwestern prairie land was one of the largest biomes in the world.

In the 19th century Bison which grazed the prairie, were exterminated for two reasons:
Facilitate agriculture
Starve Indians

By the 20th century, nearly all prairies, bison, and traditionally living native Americans were exterminated.

By the 21st century: mcdonalds

Max Roth - You're a Part of This

New Video Up for "You're a Part of This" This was a school project in which i spent about 20 hours just downloading images through google image. I am truly grateful for all the people who took the time to capture these fantastic photographs. And in no way am I taking any credit for any of them.

After compiling about 500 pictures, i spent many hours sequencing them in a trial version of Adobe Flash. The footage was shot in my friend matt's living room with green posterboard in place of a green screen. Matt then shot me running through the song about 6 times and then rendered new files keying out the green, most of it anyway. He then imported all the files into aftereffects and did some lighting work, which I love. And then doing some sweet edits. On the subject of the flashing images, I used google image, searching with keywords like 1979, 1982, city, india, metropolis, money, food, stuff, ect. It was the strangest feeling after searching for a few hours. A bit disturbing, which is kind of the point of the video, saturation.

The song just sort of came to me on the spot live, improvising to hard disk. This was one of my brother's (Cepia - Ghostly International) favorite songs of the record and suggested that it be the opener on "The us in orange." He spent quite a bit of his own time mastering it at his new mastering studio HM Mastering, and charged me a favorable rate. It sounds fantastic.

Telefon Tel Aviv

I played the new Telefon Tel Aviv for someone tonight. I told her it was a duo from Chicago, and that I saw them play a show at First Ave with Grid(Cepia and JT Bates of Fat Kid Wednesdays). I neglected to tell her that Charlie Cooper, one half of Telefon Tel Aviv was recently deceased. I was curious of the role that something like that plays in the decision making process of whether or not someone enjoys a recording.
